God Wars II

God Wars II is a combat-oriented mud (both PK and player-versus-mob) set in a roomless world. It has a steep learning curve, but there is plenty of documentation, and I've added a number of options to try and make it accessable to visually impaired players. I'm always open to further suggestions for improving accessability, or enhancing the game in general.

Typing 'config screen reader' does the following:
1. Removes dashed lines from tables, help files, etc.
2. Replaces the WAR table with a compact non-table output.
3. Activates a selection of shortcut commands for viewing important data, so you don't have to keep typing 'score' to check your health, etc.
4. Switches off the 'look' ASCII map and the 'weather' ASCII cloud pattern.
5. The 'area' command will display a list of area names instead of drawing a large scale ASCII map.
6. Replaces the 'scan' ASCII map with a list of nearby area names, along with approximate distances and directions.
In addition, the following options may prove useful:
1. Typing 'help screen reader' in-game will show the same information I've mentioned here. I'm also working on displaying the help files via the website (it already works, but the formatting needs tweaking).
2. Adding the word 'long' after the command for displaying combat tables will display them in a verbose format.
3. Prompt can be switched off via 'config prompt'. This used to be an automatic part of 'config screen reader', but a blind player requested it be restored so that his client could capture data from the prompt.
4. Players can create their own aliases to view almost any information about their character, via the 'display' command.
5. The MUD world is coordinate-based, so you don't have to wander around rooms, you can just specify your desired destination and start walking. There is also a 'find' command which gives you a general distance and direction to an area you've previously visited.
6. There are various config options for reducing spam during combat.
7. You can type 'tell', 'chat', 'newbie' or 'gossip' to view the last 20 messages on the appropriate channel (or 'chat X' to view the last X chat messages, etc). You can view these channel histories even if you've switched the channels off, so you don't have to worry about missing conversations while in combat.
I think it's great that you are working so hard to make your game accessible. I think it's awesome when people put in accessibility features. Unfortunately, I abhore PK oriented muds, so Godwars is just not my style, but I'm sure for PK lovers it'd be awesome! Keep up the excellent work!

{text-decoration:underline;}God Wars II is a combat-oriented mud
(both PK and player-versus-mob) set in a roomless world. It
has a steep learning curve, but there is plenty of
documentation, and I've added a number of options to try
and make it accessable to visually impaired players.
I'm always open to further suggestions for improving
accessability, or enhancing the game in
general.Address: godwars2.org 3000Website: http://www.godwars2.orgNewbie
guide: http://www.godwars2.org/guide.phpWho
is online right now: http://www.godwars2.org/mwi/whoTyping
'config screen reader' does the following:1.
Removes dashed lines from tables, help files, etc.2.
Replaces the WAR table with a compact non-table
output.3. Activates a selection of shortcut commands
for viewing important data, so you don't have to keep
typing 'score' to check your health, etc..4.
Switches off the 'look' ASCII map and the
'weather' ASCII cloud pattern.5. The
'area' command will display a list of area names
instead of drawing a large scale ASCII map.6.
Replaces the 'scan' ASCII map with a list of nearby
area names, along with approximate distances and
directions. In addition, the following options may
prove useful:1.. Typing 'help screen reader' in-game will
show the same information I've mentioned here. I'm
also working on displaying the help files via the website
(it already works, but the formatting needs
tweaking).2. Adding the word 'long' after the
command for displaying combat tables will display them in a
verbose format.3. Prompt can be switched off via
'config prompt'. This used to be an automatic part
of 'config screen reader', but a blind player
requested it be restored so that his client could capture data from the
prompt.4. Players can create their own aliases to
view almost any information about their character, via the
'display' command.5. The MUD world is
coordinate-based, so you don't have to wander around
rooms, you can just specify your desired destination and
start walking. There is also a 'find' command which
gives you a general distance and direction to an area
you've previously visited.6. There are various
config options for reducing spam during combat.7. You
can type 'tell', 'chat', 'newbie' or 'gossip' to view
the last 20 messages on the appropriate channel (or
'chat X' to view the last X chat messages, etc). You
can view these channel histories even if you've switched
the channels off, so you don't have to worry about
missing conversations while in combat.www.jigluhood.com

Of god wars and if I could find a sound pack for vip mud I would play it all he time. I play one mud now but one more would be great
I've now added MSP support to the mud, and one of the blind players has created a soundpack. You can read about it in the game by typing 'help msp', or if you just want to check out the sounds, you can download them from here: http://www.godwars2.org/msp
To activate MSP, just type 'config msp' within the mud. I've not used VIP-Mud myself, but in theory it should work – let me know if you have any problems. The plan is to continue adding more sounds, and I've provided an 'msp' command which allows you to configure which types of sound you hear.
As an aside, a number of people have expressed difficulty navigating the dungeons using a screen reader. I previously simplified the layout, but it was still quite hard to navigate, so I've now added two new screen reader commands and an additional movement option.
The first command is 'centre', which moves you to the centre of the dungeon tile you're standing on. The second is 'area', which shows which exits lead from your tile, and where the dungeon entrance is. Finally, you can now add the word 'tile' after movement commands, for example 'north 1 tile' or 'east 2 tiles'.
Because the exits are always aligned with the centre of the tile, these three options effectively allow you to move around the dungeon as if it were a simple grid of 10 by 10 rooms.
Will start playing tonight when get home.

Oo. I think I just might have to come back now that MSP is added. However, I forgot who my demon character was.
